Clever Creative: The Truth Behind Reporting
Posted Wednesday April 26th, 2017 by Caitlin Artigliere in Creativity + Art.Every morning you go on to one of your devices and look to see what’s happening in the news. But, have you ever stopped to think about the person who is reporting those dangerous news stories? In today’s “Clever Creative,” the New York Times is putting those journalists and their experiences front and center in order to show readers the truth behind their reporting. Check out the newest additions to the Times “The Truth Is Hard To Find” campaign:
Why our GEMites liked this Clever Creative:
The old adage, ”A picture is worth a thousand words,” rings true for these ads. But what makes them even more amazing is the accompanying voiceovers provided by the journalists who took the photos. We love these ads because of the impactful images and stories surrounding them. The newest additions to the New York Times campaign makes you appreciate what goes into reporting the hard-hitting stories going on in today’s world.
These journalists aren’t just reporting, they’re risking their lives to make sure the stories of other people’s lives are being told. We also commend the fact that these ads focus on the journalists and photographers themselves, rather than promoting their newspaper and its attributes.
Why our fellow creatives should like this:
In recent years, companies have tried providing consumers with experiences rather than straightforward ads, since attention-spans have shortened and mistrust for advertising has grown. The minute you hit play on the Times’ ads, you’re sucked into them. The eye-catching, and shocking, images flashing, along with the journalist talking about what was happening during those shots, makes you feel like you’re experiencing the moment with them. We think our fellow creatives should like these new commercials from the New York Times because of that. Also, their current campaign is focused on finding the truth, and these ads show just how far they’re willing to go to find it.
By creating these chilling and impactful ads that show the truth behind their reporting, the New York Times is solidifying their position as one of the top newspapers in the world.
